Across professional industries, there are fundamentally two sides to the work: the expertise required to do it, and the process required to document, communicate, and deliver it.
The Expertise Behind the Work
Understanding the problem, performing the analysis, choosing methodologies, making assumptions and decisions, interpreting results, and ultimately standing behind a conclusion.

How the Work Takes Form

Where is technology best applied?
Much of today's attention is focused on using technology to perform more of the analysis, interpretation, judgment, and decision-making itself. There are valuable applications there, but these are also the areas where black-box behavior, hallucinations, loss of control, and review burden become far more consequential.
The professional shouldn't have to surrender control to gain efficiency.
ReportGen has a different thesis about where technology can create enormous efficiency without asking professionals to relinquish control over the work they're responsible for.
The analysis, judgment, methodologies, templates, reporting standards, review processes, and institutional knowledge that professionals and firms have developed are not obstacles to automation. They represent established ways of working that technology should be capable of supporting, not require professionals to abandon.
The objective is not to remove the professional from the process. It is to remove unnecessary demands on the professional from the process.

Experience That Shaped ReportGen
ReportGen grew out of founder Philip Boukas' eight years of experience across valuation, finance, and investing, working in environments with vastly different levels of technology adoption and use. Some placed technology at the center of how work was performed, while others remained heavily dependent on traditional, manual processes. Experiencing both revealed the advantages and limitations of each and helped shape ReportGen's philosophy around how professional work can become more efficient without sacrificing professional control.
Philip's prior experience includes RTW Investments, Carta, Forvis Mazars, and Pegasus Tech Ventures, with a background primarily spanning business valuation and investing in private equity and venture capital-backed companies. He is Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and holds both an MBA and B.S. in Finance from Fairfield University's Dolan School of Business.
